Snoqualmie Valley Mobility Coalition's Mobility Update
2024 SVMC Mobility Resolution
Last week, the Snoqualmie City Council, led by Mayor Katherine Ross and Community Development Director Emily Arteche, passed a Resolution from the Snoqualmie Valley Mobility Coalition (SVMC) to show support for mobility, equity, and transportation accessibility for all residents. This Resolution underscores the city's dedication to providing safe, flexible, convenient, reliable, and affordable transportation options, aligning with its Comprehensive Plans to strengthen community connectivity and mobility. The decision has garnered widespread praise from stakeholders across the valley. The resolution’s passing represents progress by committing to prioritizing community accessibility and mobility.
Additionally, Deputy Mayor Adair Hawkins and Mayor Jim Rabail from the City of Carnation have already officially passed this resolution, demonstrating their commitment to these fundamental principles. Our aim with the Resolution is to showcase cohesion in establishing a unified voice and vision throughout the region, ensuring accessible, affordable, convenient, coordinated, reliable, and safe mobility options and opportunities for everyone.
Looking ahead, the Coalition aims to collaborate with the cities of North Bend and Duvall to establish the framework for city council members to guide city-wide policies and projects through a mobility-centric approach. The Coalition will highlight the importance of considering all transportation modes, including public transit, biking, rolling, and walking, to ensure multiple and appropriate options for residents, businesses, and visitors.
We look forward to advancing our efforts this year and welcome those interested to join us by contacting Tracie Jones, the Snoqualmie Valley Mobility Coordinator.
