Committee members gathered to reflect on our Phase 1 trip planner accomplishments.

A group of over 30 people gather together for a photo. Smiling and in party mode!

On October 4, 2024, Find a Ride’s Advisory Committee gathered at Hopelink’s Redmond office to celebrate the launch of our trip planner. Since 2018, Hopelink has been working on enacting the vision of King County Mobility Coalition and many regional partners on a One-Call/One-Click system.

Thank you to our speakers:

  • Meghan Altimore, Interim Chief Executive Officer, Hopelink
  • Daeveene May, Pierce County Coordinated Transportation Coalition (PCCTC) & Find a Ride Advisory Committee Member
  • Dorene Cornwell, WA Council of the Blind, Advocacy Committee & Find a Ride Advisory Committee Member
  • Kevin Chambers, Full Path Transit Technology
  • Jana Lynott, Co-Author, Connecting Community Transportation: The Transactional Data Specification
  • Staci Sahoo, Director Mobility Management, Hopelink

The project has expanded our Find a Ride transportation service discovery site to include a trip planner. Throughout 2024, we have steadily moved forward on our multi-phase roadmap to increase mobility access across Pierce, King, and Snohomish counties. Our trip planner focuses on transportation options for older adults, people with disabilities, and rural transit riders. Visit www.FindARide.org for more information.

Throughout the last few years, we have engaged with over two dozen organizations that support travelers across Pierce, King, and Snohomish counties. Launching our trip planner gives travelers and assistor communities an improved experience for mobility and trip planning decisions. Since January 2022, we have held twelve advisory meetings with thirty-two organizations. We have also held dozens of user testing taskforce and technical advisor work group meetings. Learn more about our exciting Phase 2 news!

The trip planner was recently updated to include several enhancements and accessibility improvements. The Advisory Committee has made invaluable contributions towards developing a program prioritizing inclusion, accessibility, and equity. Our Find a Ride trip planner has benefited from our advisory committee members who are blind and have low vision. Championing accessibility through advocacy using a Nothing About Us Without Us framework ensures that people with lived experience shape policies that directly impact them.
