Connect 2020

January 9, 2020

Sound Transit's Connect 2020 Service Changes are here for 10 weeks!

Beginning on January 4th, 2020, Sound Transit's Link light rail will be undergoing 10 weeks of construction as new light rail tracks are being built to connect Seattle to the Eastside. This project, called Connect 2020, will result in a reduction of Link light rail services and on-the-ground changes. Staff will be available at impacted stations to guide users in the right direction and answer questions!

Service changes mean that four-car trains will be arriving at a slower rate of 14 minute intervals, but this interval will be maintained during all service hours. Real-time arrival information will not be available.

The on-the-ground adjustments are that light rail users must transfer trains at the Pioneer Square station before traveling either north or south. This entails exiting the current car, transferring onto a temporary center platform, and entering a parallel train. During Connect 2020, bicycles will not be allowed at Pioneer Square Station.

Link shuttle buses will replace trains between Capitol Hill and SODO on the weekends of January 4-5, February 8-9, and March 14-15, although these dates are subject to change. Link light rail and Link shuttle buses will be free during weekend closures.

To learn more about Connect 2020, visit their Connect 2020 website. You can also subscribe to email or text alerts to stay up to date about weekend closures!
