Access to Work and School

About the KCMC Access to Work and School Roundtable

The KCMC Access to Work and School Roundtable's mission is to improve access to education and employment opportunities via transportation resources and services for residents in King County. We achieve this mission through coordination and advocacy to address transportation gaps and barriers -- and particularly by way of education, information sharing, and learning to foster collaboration and innovation.

Goals

  1. Provide education and awareness of existing programs and transportation services.
  2. Seek out community partners to identify gaps, create new solutions, and advocate for transportation options for their employees, students, and clients.
  3. Align with other support services and human service agencies to create more sustainable mobility options for clients.

Projects and Plans

The Access to Work and School Roundtable, formerly Access to Work and School Committee, hosts quarterly meetings on mobility topics related to youth, families, employment, education, and work.

In 2022, the Roundtable hosted conversations on the importance of diverse and equitable outreach for transportation demand management projects. The group discussed regionally reduced fare options, notably the transition to youth fare-free riding.

While our focus is on soliciting informational presentations and roundtable sharing, the Committee historically elevates projects by producing relevant deliverables, including:

Meetings

Beginning in March each year, the Roundtable meets quarterly on the second Tuesday from 1:00 to 3:00 PM. Meetings are held virtually. Additional events or meetings are scheduled as needed.
